Is this good for the high seas?

I want to buy the Garmin 160 C fishfinder and description that says a lot of freshwater lakes, but I only used for salt water, mainly offshore. and a rating of depth is 900 ', but the frequency range is 200 kHz and has an angle grade 14/45. Can I use it for salt water? or not good for what I use.

The 160c will work for you. I'm not impressed by show 160 C, but is useful and will work in salt water. The dual beam transducer gives a right to look good on the boat with 14degrees and you can see a larger area around the boat with the adjustment 45 degrees. You may want to spend a few dollars more and get the Fishfinder 300C, 240 x 320 pixels and a 2.1 "x 2.8" screen compared 128 x 128 pixels was 160 C, 3.2 "x 3.2" screen .- fewer pixels but bigger screen means less resolution. I suggest you go to a store and look at the screens, do not buy on price alone as it will be stuck with it and can not be happy. Good Luck - Boat Safe!
